Dear friends and listeners,

to inject a little normality back into the situation, we’d like to use this newsletter to let you know about a few items worth seeing or hearing – all just a click or two away. Also, we have a present for you.

We start with a recommendation involving two of our colleagues: the duo strings&noise (otherwise known as Sophia Goidinger-Koch and Maiken Beer, the Studio Dan string section) was commissioned by the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York (ACFNY) to add a visual element to Daniel Riegler’s duet “Zen” for violin and cello. The grotesquely wonderful music video by filmmaker Melanie Hollaus – two Western heroes facing off at Vienna’s biggest highway interchange – is available on the ACFNY´s Youtube channel.

Also from the Big Apple: we hear that our recording of George Lewis’s “As We May Feel” has been named Best Classical Music Track of 2020 by The New York Times – we’re honored! The piece is featured on our CD Breaking News, released on the renowned label HatHut, along with another work by Oxana Omelchuk. ZONK!?!! was one of the few projects that we were able to realize this year – but what a project it was! By the numbers: 10 days, 22 locations, 33 programs, 52 performers. Music by Braxton, Falb, Tenney, and Tiefenbacher; guests like Martin Siewert and Eva-Maria Schaller anchored our roster. We made a brief (12-minute) video documentary about it.
