Julia Purgina and Studio Dan
nafezrerhuf
Julia Purgina was involved as a violist in Studio Dan's very first concerts. Back then, in the largely uncultured crowd that we were, Julia, with her dry and direct manner, already radiated the professionalism that would carry her far in her academic career as well as as a composer and player. After ending her career as a viola player, she takes on a special position as an outside eye (with lifelong membership) in the collective.
As a composer, she contributed her Zappa homage dogfood to the award-winning debut album Creatures & other stuff. She later composed the works games, 5pm Istanbul and Hydra for the group that she knows better than most others. These pieces are available on her feature recording Hydra.
