Peterchens und Annelieses Mondfahrt
Once to the moon and back
For generations, the May beetles of the Sumsemann family have been born with only 5 little legs, because the sixth leg of their great-grandson is lost on the moon. Together with the children Peter and Anneliese the beetle dreams himself on the long way to get this back. During their adventurous journey, they meet the Sandman in the starry meadow and travel on with him in his space shuttle across the Milky Way. They visit the Night Fairy in her palace to ask for help, and meet the Thunder Man, the Lightning Witch, Snow Sophie and Stormy Lizard, until the three finally land on the moon and meet the ravenous Moon Man. Will the children be able to convince the moon man to give the cockchafer his sixth leg back?
Gerdt von Bassewitzʼ classic "Peterchens Mondfahrt" has accompanied children on their nocturnal dream journeys for generations and has lost none of its magic and narrative power since its premiere in 1912.
