Fanfare III is a project together with french saxophonist Michel Doneda. Based solely on the sound of his instruments used in his solo improvisations, a full-length composition (Daniel Riegler) was developed. The basic tonal material was prepared based on the acoustic, spectral and the aesthetic analysis Doneda´s recordings. Formally, the piece is a highly developed intertwining of improvisation and composition. Michel Doneda operates soloistically, also on stage he is situated in the centre of the ensemble. His improvisational interventions hitting the detailed orchestral material. The specific spatial situation of the performance space is always utilized.

2021 Fanfare III was released as CD. For a version as four-channel sound installation the filmmaker Melanie Hollaus has developed an independent work called Ruinen.
