On a Molecular Basis

Played on a sculpture by Constantin Luser

The Molecular Organ, which you can find on the roof of the Technical University in Graz, is a sculpture by Constantin Luser. Through some kind of magic, this wild new instrument connects 14 trumpets, 14 trombones, and 7 tubas together into one joyously loud sculpture. It had its maiden performance back in 2010, when Peter Jakober created a performance for the Steirischen Herbst festival. Now, composers from “die andere saite” bring brand-new compositions to this simultaneously futuristic and archaic machine.
A cooperation with the composers’ collective die andere saite (Klaus Dorfegger) as part of the Steirischen Herbst/musikprotokoll.

Composers:
Klaus Dorfegger, Florian Geßler, Robert Gutmann, Elisabeth Harnik, Hannes Kerschbaumer, Clemens Nachtmann, Dimitri Papageorgiou, Ernst Christian Rinner.
