A small sensation awaits our audience in the third concert of our series, as we present the work of Johanna M. Beyer (1888–1944), a composer of experimental instrumental music who remains largely unknown in our part of the world. Beyer was part of the circle of American Ultramodernists surrounding Henry Cowell and later came into contact with the New School group around John Cage. Her strikingly clear and transparent music, with its strong conceptual foundation, and the fact that she is credited with composing the first electroacoustic work by a woman, align her well with the work of Mark Fell.
The second composer of the evening is well known to a "completely different audience" as one of the most important figures in electronic music. In a previous joint workshop, we were able to adapt his process-driven musical structures to instrumental music, and now the next step follows.
